Breaktime Bible Study: We are Not Alone

Record my misery; list my tears on your scroll— are they not in your record? Psalm 56:8

The Psalmist had high confidence God could see his misery. God knew David’s tears and the reason for all his agony, but David is comforted, knowing God can recognize and remember justice is due to his enemies.

There is a great comfort knowing the comfort of the Lord. To experience the embrace of God during hardships allows our tears to flow with joy building in the heart. Tears empty the soul of pain so God can fill it with healing. No pain seems pleasant at the time, but it will expand the heart to live, knowing God’s nearness.

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18

David is experiencing the pain and agony of enemies. No matter the cause of the pain, the Lord is close. His nearness offers us exactly what can bring us from despair to joy. God reminds us once again of the hope we can have knowing His constant comfort. God can give us a perspective from an eternal lens. Friends, rest knowing no matter what your heart is feeling today; God is near. Allow yourself to rest in his arms of care and allow Him to take care of us. Resist falling into the temptation of self-despair and thinking we are all alone? We are not alone.
