Words of Truth

All-day long they twist my words; all their schemes are for my ruin. Psalm 56:5

David’s use of words is being called into question. His enemies, which are competing against David’s influence, are out to ruin his reputation. One sufficient way is to twist and lie about the words of another. David’s words mean something to his people, and if the enemy can destroy their meaning, they can gain influence.

Using false words to destroy another is quite common in a competitive workplace, but not in the Kingdom of God. Distorting the words of another is never the tactic for a believer. Our role, regardless of the influence, is to keep our words accurate. When our words are real, others can trust our authority. We are not out to gain control of others by distorting the truth, but keeping honesty in the culture.

Friends, our words, how we say them, and what we say matter to God.

For, “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech. I Peter 4:10
