Breaktime Bible Study: Becoming Steady

A Steady heart

My heart, O God, is steadfast, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music. Psalm 57:7

Everything in David should have been shaken−his very life is being threatened. He should have fallen into a panic attack or something. His anxiousness should have led him into running for his life. But instead what we see David doing is remarkable−Singing and making music−who does that?

Well, friends, we too can respond in the same way. We, also, can face trials of many kinds and find a steady heart. But it takes practice but not the type of training you might be thinking it is not a matter of trying harder but become steady. We can find this steadiness in practicing the presence of God.

David practiced God by singing and making music to Him. He found his racing heart stilled in the presence of God. We, too, can practice finding a stillness before God but again not by trying to calm yourself but bringing your unsteadiness to his quietness. This practice takes a lifetime, but each time we practice, we find our steady heart growing more confident in God.
