Breaktime Bible Study: For Crying out Loud

For Crying Out Loud

I cry out to God Most High, to God, who vindicates me. Psalm 57:2

David is safe, and yet he cries out in faith to God. He believes God is doing what he asks. His prayer life is a real-life conversation with a real-life God. To David, God is ever-present and yet the God Most High.

Our present situation calls for action from us. There is no better time than to cry out to the Lord. Allowing God to hear our cry, we have to first come before Him. We can no longer talk about the need of God; we have to move as if we need God. Going forward with God in desperate need of Him is where we are.

But crying out to God takes vulnerability−a real exposure of the heart. If our heart is cold, if we are unable to cry out to God, then that is where we start. We start with God, where we are. If we are angry, we talk to God; if we are mad, we talk with God; if we are crying, we cry to God. It's not so much where we are, but are we admitting the place before God and being real in that place.
