Breaktime Bible Study: Attack of Pride

My adversaries pursue me all day long; in their pride many are attacking me. Psalm 56:2

We are surrounded by pride all day long if we are honest. It could be our pride or the pride of others, and the goal is for us to become self- consumed. The ego thinks only of itself, for we all struggle with pride, and we all know how it can get in the way of all relationships. It was the pride of others attacking David.

Have you ever been there? When the ego of another person is pursuing you? The only reason they are coming after you, either through their actions or words, is the feelings of insecurity or threat. When another ego is not superior to yours, they feel threatened, and the assault begins. Sometimes it is passive-aggressive or straight head-on aggressive.

However, the attack comes, and we realize where it is coming from. David recognized it was pride. When we know its pride, we can humble ourselves and walk with others through the ego. We don’t have to play the ego game but walk with others honestly and show them love.
