Breaktime Bible Study: Overcoming Shame

David prayed God would bring shame to his enemies, could it be he knew the extreme punishment of shame.

May all who gloat over my distress be put to shame and confusion;
may all who exalt themselves over me be clothed with shame and disgrace. Psalm 35:26

3. Now What? Answer and Apply the following Questions

How did David pray for his enemies? What were the enemies doing to David?

Why would David pray for shame?

Have you ever experienced shame in your life? What did if feel like? What did you do about it?

Shame is our way of coping with our sin. Jesus desires to forgive us and clothe us, not in our way, but in His ways.

Is there a sin that needs uncovering with the blood of Jesus in your life?

If we claim to be without sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. I John 1:8,9

What is the promise of this passage?
