David knew how then the secret of selfless living. He didn’t allow the heartache of others to crush his spirit.
“A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.” (Proverbs 15:13)
Continuously looking inward or outward will leave us disappointed and feelings of self- pity will creep in. If we are honest, we all have done this. The answer is to look upward and call upon His name. Focus your attention from yourself to the One who can give you overcoming strength.
Today instead of focusing on all the evil that has been done can you start praying for those who have persecuted you?
