The finish line is in sight for construction work at Pella High School as s crews finish the last pockets of renovations. Superintendent Greg Ebeling says the new classrooms where the cafeteria used to be are almost finished and ready for students – the art rooms, special education classroom and health classroom and nearing completion as well. The bulk of construction should be complete by Thanksgiving, with punchlist items continuing until the end of winter break.
Vermeer and Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) are continuing a partnership that helps place welders into the workplace. Angie Neville with DMACC says the field has plenty of opportunities both locally and around the nation. The next class meets from November 27th through February 12th on Mondays & Wednesdays from 5 pm – 9 pm and every other Saturday from 7 am – 1 pm at Vermeer. The registration deadline is November 2nd.
