“I love you, LORD, my strength.” Psalm 18:1
How we all long to be loved. It is the single most sought-after phrase to be heard, and all hearts long to hear those words. The words I love you are used to express the deepest expression of the heart’s attitude. When used sincerely, the receiver’s heart and mind can be filled with wonderment which lifts their spirit and helps them soar. But how often do we hear these words or use them?
David uses this expression to His Lord. He affirms outwardly what his heart is experiencing. His desire is for the Lord to know his heart, and so he recognizes Him also as his source of strength. David is known as the man after God’s own heart.
We all have a heart for God, or we probably would not be reading this devotion. But the question becomes are we expressing our heart to God? Are we vulnerable enough with our heart to allow it to be exposed to the Lord? It takes a considerable amount of faith to allow ourselves to express our heart to the Lord. Maybe some of us have no problem showing or speaking words of love. We could learn a lesson here from David and allow ourselves to freely express our love for God.
When is the last time you told the Lord you love Him?
Today in the Workplace:
