Concert On The Square – Tim Timmons & Ryan Stevenson

Join us at the Oskaloosa Square on Saturday, August 5th, 2017 starting at 5:30 for our 3rd Annual “Concert on the Square”, featuring national recording artists Tim Timmons and Ryan Stevenson! This event continues to grow every year, with nearly 3,000 attending in 2016. In addition to amazing music there will be FREE kid’s games and activities, a variety of food vendors, local soloists, and more. The event is FREE, and everyone is invited!

Kid’s Zone: We are excited to have an even bigger and better Kid’s Zone this year! Kids will have a chance to play all sorts of fun games and enjoy great activities. Best of all, every game is totally free! The Kid’s Zone will open at 5:30 and close at 7:15pm, right before Tim Timmons takes the stage.

Dunk Tank: Get your throwing arm ready because this year you’ll have the chance to make someone take a splash. Check back later to find out who will be going for a dunk.

Food Vendors: You asked for more food vendors this year, and you got it! We have seven food vendors confirmed including:

  • 4 K’s Kettle Corn
  • Mahaska County Cattleman’s (by Habitat for Humanity)
  • The Barnyard
  • Wanderlunch
  • Lefties BBQ
  • Breadeaux Pizza & baked goods (by Oskaloosa Christian School)
  • Sno Biz

Schedule:

  • 5:30 – Seven Food Vendors and Kids Zone – Open to Public
  • 5:30 – Stage Performances Begin
    • Local Talent
    • Bridge Worship from Ottumwa
    • Tim Timmons
    • Ryan Stevenson

Local Talent: While the logistics of having three recording artists make it very difficult to have local opening bands this year, we want to still showcase local talent. A number of local artists will be performing short “un-plugged” sets between 5:30-6:15pm, so make sure to come early and hear some of the great talent we have in our own backyard.

Inclement Weather: In case of inclement weather, the concert and Kid’s Zone will move to the Penn Central Mall. Watch www.centralosky.com and the Central Reformed Church Facebook Page for updates.

Remaining in Wisdom
All his laws are before me; I have not turned away from his decrees. Psalm 18:22

His laws are not the same as governmental laws which when broken, have the consequences of incarceration. However, there are some similarities. When we turn away from the wisdom of what God has said there are consequences and they could even be eternal. God wrote his commands not as a killjoy for our flesh, but as a fulfillment of our life.

The flesh should not get to decide how we will respond to the world but often it shouts. Our tendency may be to take our cue from how the flesh is reacting, but David reminds us to keep God’s laws before us just not in a legalistic way. To keep God’s truths, we need to resist the urge to cooperate with the flesh when it conflicts with wisdom.

Godly wisdom is life producing and living in wisdom, which God provides, will keep our path from becoming filled with the sinful consequences. The way God provides us wisdom is through His word. Becoming a student of his word will bring insights into our daily living.
